Who We Are

Missio International (MI) exists to support the work of our partner, Missio Link International (MLI), by connecting people, ideas and resources with God’s transformative work in Romania.

Central Vision

MI believes God’s mission in Romania is best accomplished by Romanian Christians, supported and encouraged by a robustly relational partnership with other believers in the US, each doing their own part to help usher in the coming Kingdom of God.

Mission Statement

Missio International exists to support Missio Link International by connecting people, ideas, and resources with God’s transformative work in Romania.

Core Values

We base our work on the transforming life, death, resurrection, and inspiration of Christ Jesus.

We value Christian unity as reflected in the deeply relational partnership between MI (non-profit) based in Knoxville, TN and MLI, a Romanian NGO (non-profit) based in Timisoara, Romania, for the mutual edification of all involved. We seek to cultivate meaningful ministry friendships rather than solely focus on fund-raising.

We strive for productive professionalism via an efficient staff, engaged executive leaders, and an active Board of Directors.

We are committed to maintaining fiduciary excellence and expenditure responsibility for all donations.

Missio International Leadership

Missio International, Knoxville

Kenny Woodhull

Executive Team, President

Ministry: Church in Mission

Kenny Woodhull (DMISS, Fuller Theological Seminary) has worked with Missio International (and its predecessor, USAffairs) since its founding in 2001. He is a part of the Executive Leadership team in Knoxville and, as a board member, serves in the elected role of President. Kenny is Professor of Cross-Cultural Leadership at Johnson University (Knoxville, Tennessee), Director of the Urban Alliance (Johnson University), and Executive Director of New City Resources (Knoxville). He and his wife, Doris, live on the world’s third oldest river (French Broad) and delight in being grandparents!

Lauren Clevenger

Executive Leadership Team

Ministry: Children at Risk

Lauren Clevenger, alongside her siblings, Shelby and Kenny, completes the Executive Leadership Team of Missio International (MI) in Knoxville, helping to care for and expand the ministry started by their parents almost 30 years ago. An initial medical mission trip to Romania in 1993 introduced Lauren first-hand to the work that God was doing in the lives of his people in Romania. Subsequent trips and deepening relationships with ministry friends, both in the US and in Romania, led to Lauren joining MI’s Board officially in 2018, and accepting the invitation to help shepherd Missio International in a new season of growth and expansion since 2019. Lauren, a practicing Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, is especially thrilled to bring her lifelong calling to care for kids alongside her focused support of the work of MLI’s Children at Risk Ministry. She and her husband Kelly enjoy trying to keep up with their growing family, recently welcoming their fifth grandchild!

Shelby Trusley

Executive Leadership Team

Ministry: Alpinis Leadership Center

Shelby has loved this ministry since its inception in 1993. She joined the MI Board in 2018 and became a part of the Knoxville MI team in 2019. It is her delight to host the annual MI board meeting as well as help spread the word of Alpinis Leadership Center’s incredible purpose and potential. Shelby and her husband, Randy, have owned a couple of small businesses and are now grandparents to six amazing grandkids!

Ashley West

Ministry Facilitator

Ashley began working with MI in the beginning of 2022, as ministry facilitator. She facilitates communication among current and future ministry partners, develops and delivers initiatives/fundraisers, and serves the executive leadership team to fulfill the mission of MI. She is also our social media manager! Ashley graduated from Johnson University in December 2018 with two degrees: Intercultural Studies and Bible and Theology. She married her husband Baron in 2021, and have a sweet dog named Peach. She also plays for a professional ultimate frisbee team based in Nashville!
